note 02 - pedal lubrication
Because the pedals are metal sleeves running inside each other, there is direct metal to metal contact - eventually leading to metal filing and rust build up. As a precautionary measure you can drill the outer tube along its length and periodically grease or oil the contact areas. Removal and full cleaning are recommended with each clutch change to prevent pedal binding leading to premature clutch disk wear.

One additional step that can be done requires:
1. 2 standard Zerk grease fittings
2. 1 Drill and bottoming tap to match fitting

Procedure:
1. Remove pedal assembly from car.
2. put a piece of tape on drill about 3/16 of an inch from the tip and mount in the drill. This is the aproximate thickness of the rotating pipes the pedals are welded to.
3. put the pedal mounting plate on a flat surface, and flop the pedals fully forward.
4. drill a hole to the inside (ie towards the tunnel end) of each pedal tube in line with the pedal arm, through the hinge tube. You will nick the inside tube, this is ok; you want to make sure the hole goes thru the outside tube.
5. Tap the holes you just drilled with the bottoming tap, clean out the swarf, and then screw in the Zerk fitting.
6. rotate the pedals up to their normal position, and using a grease gun, pump grease in till it oozes from the joints.
7. reinstallation is the reverse of disassembly.
